Getting Started With Canvas

What is Canvas?
Canvas is the online application instructors use to enhance their courses. About 60% of our courses use Canvas. Instructors may use Canvas to:
- Post announcements
- Post course materials
- Conduct online discussions
- Collect assignments
- Conduct quizzes and exams
- Post grades
- Schedule events on the calendar
What kind of technology do I need?
- You need access to a computer with reliable internet service.
- You need a current web browser, such as Firefox

- The two latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Safari are the best browsers to use with Canvas
- Canvas does not work well with Edge.
- Canvas does not support browsers such as Brave, Vivaldi, Torch, etc.
- You may need speakers or headphones for any media content.

How do I log in?
- Point your Browser to http://lwtech.instructure.com.
- Enter your User ID and password and click the Login button.
- User ID: LWTech email address (s-firstname.lastname@lwtech.edu)
- Password: Set by you via LionsLink
To reset your password, go to password reset. Links to an external site.
- If you are still unable to log into your account please contact your instructor immediately, and then contact IT Services at 425-576-5865 to have your password reset. They will need your LionsLink (ctcLink) id number.
How do I get help?
- If you are in Canvas and experience a bug or system issue, please submit a help ticket by selecting the "Canvas Help" link in the lower-left navigation, and then the Get Help with Canvas link. You can also email CanvasSupport@LWTech.edu to create a help desk ticket. If the issue affects your ability to complete work in the course, please also contact your instructor.
Tip: By default, Canvas sends notifications to your student email account.
