Welcome to "Psychology of Organizations" class. In this class, I hope to create a welcoming environment where all of us feel a sense of belonging. I am here to guide your learning and to support you in developing an understanding of the class concepts and skills. This course will introduce you to the major topics and concepts comprising Organizational Psychology. During this quarter, we will explore these topics and concepts by looking at them at three different levels of analysis--the individual, the group, and the organization/systems levels.

Additionally, we will journey through the content by exploring theory and putting theory to practice in a variety of organizational settings. Mastery of organizational psychological theories and other concepts will primarily be assessed through quizzes. Each quiz will have 10 questions, randomly chosen from a question bank. You will have unlimited attempts for each quiz up until the last day of the course. Discussion board prompts will allow us to consider how to put theory into practice within each of you applying an organizational psychological theory or other concepts within your own organizational context. Lastly, through module case studies, you will consider the organizational psychological theories and other concepts from two differing perspectives--as a member of an organization and as a leader of an organization--in order to equip you engage within organizations in a variety of roles.

This is an asynchronous online course, meaning there is no weekly remote class session. Instead, most activities will occur online through this Canvas site organized into modules. Each module may span a different amount of time, depending on the volume of content for each module. There will be 5 modules:

Introduction to Organizational Psychology (1 week),
Organizational Psychology at the Individual Level (3 weeks),
Organizational Psychology at the Group Level (2 weeks),
Organizational Psychology at the Systems Level (2 weeks),
Organizational Psychology within the Ecological Model (2 weeks).

This leaves 1 final week to wrap up your 2 final projects--a research presentation and a case study paper.

At the start of the course, you will have access to general course information and expectations, resources, and Module 1. Completing the requirements of a module will allow you to access the next module.
